You were supposed to love me
And this was supposed to work
You were supposed to thank God for someone like me
And not make me feel so much hurt.
You were supposed to love my edges
& what John Legend said about imperfections.
You were supposed to adore my smile
And the way it let go of your indiscretions.
You were supposed to ignore my abnormal height
And notice my peaceful face.
How can anyone be blind to this gentle & quiet spirit
This humble & loyal heart?
Which governed the body with such eloquence?
You were supposed to cherish me,
And not make me feel invaluable.
You were supposed to appreciate my values
And uphold my principles.
Yet you'd rather let all this walk away
You'd rather watch this that's beautiful crumble
Life is beautiful
It's all about choices
Some good & some spiteful
But I hope you won't regret this one
Because I'm done.
